Rolled plate glass or patterned glass is referred to as cast and rolled glass, which is produced in the rolling process and not transparently clear (translucent). It is often made with a distinctive ornamentation and with a wire mesh inserted as a simple cast wire glass or wire patterned glass. In the European standardization it is now referred to as patterned glass. This term was formerly used only for cast glass with ornamented surface.
The glass can be imprinted with a pattern on one or both sides. Through further development of these patterns low-iron patterned glass has a wide range of applications in the solar and greenhouse industries. The glass used for this purpose is typically whiter in colour than the clear glasses used for other applications.
This glass can be laminated or toughened depending on the depth of the pattern to produce a safety glass.
